Travels in Hungary and Romania

 


Vardos made their sixth trip to Eastern Europe in 2006. Over the years they have met and learned from many traditional and Roma (gypsy) musicians in Budapest and Bucharest, as well as the village of Mera and the town of Cluj Napoca / Kolozsvar in Transylvania (Western Romania), Iasi in Moldavia (far Eastern Romania), Hoteni in Maramures(near the Ukrainian border), Banat (Western Romania) the village of Clejani (where they met renowned Taraf de Haidouks) and Craiova in Oltenia, Southern Romania. Vardos have also performed at festivals in Hungary. Take a look at some of the photographs below.
